Bridget Riley & Michael Eden

Bridget Riley & Michael Eden are both contemporary artists and have their work exhibiting at Leeds Art Gallery.

Bridget Riley (24 April 1931-) is an English painter and is mostly famous for her Op-Art.  Bridget started drawing from a very early age, after her school years she studied at Goldsmiths College and then later Royal College of Art both in London.  Most of her work was mainly drawings of black and white.  It wasn't until later in life when she began to work more with colour.  During her time at Univeristy she lost her father which put so much strain on her, it eventually led to a physical and mental breakdown.  In 1956 she had an exhibition which helped her to recover.  During the swinging sixties, Bridgets work came to life with bright, bold colours and simple shapes.  Today her work is exhibited all over the World and she's continuing with her art work.

Michael Eden brings together traditional ceramic craft skills and digital technology, including 3D printing, additive layer manufacturing and non-fired ceramic materials. Each object is inspired by historical objects and contemporary themes. Michael's work has been published in many blogs and magazines.
