It's Follow Friday!

Russ Mills aka BYROGLYPHICS is a graphic designer and artist born in Exeter, Devon.  After graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University with a degree in Graphic Art and Design, specializing in Experimental Film and Animation, Russ struggled to find employment within the creative industry so went back to basics with pen and paper.  He has then freelanced as an illustrator for many clients within the publishing and entertainment industry.  His client list includes U.S. Playstation Magazine, The Royal court Theatre, MDE Records.UK and many more.

"His current work is an clash of styles from classical to pop surrealism, focusing predominantly on the human form, though also abstracting elements from nature and the animal kingdom. Covering subjects such as superficiality and isolation progressing into more socio-political expression."

Russ tends to work digitally but occasionally by hand.  I like how Russ creates different sized strokes within his artwork bringing layers, textures and detail.  Russ tends to stick to just two colours, black and white but sometimes brings in other bright colours.  Most of these I believe are digitally manipulated, but I love how they look as though they could be hand-drawn with the natural brush strokes used to form the human body shapes and face.

You can follow Russ on Facebook and twitter @byroglyphics.
