I am a contemporary surface pattern designer, enthusiastic blogger and have a keen interest in photography. I freelance for Black Cherry Studio based in Glasgow, UK. I design trend led ladies fashion prints using hand-drawn motifs which are digitally manipulated. The clients range from high street to high end designers, selling worldwide including London, New York, Los Angeles and Australia.

In the meantime I am looking for further freelance opportunities, as well as work placements and internships to increase my industry experience. I have done several work placements over the past couple of years including Crystal Martin International, Nottinghamshire, Mamas and Papas, Huddersfield,  Rachael Taylor Designs, Leeds, Leicester Print Workshop, Leicester. These are all based in the UK.

Previously I studied a National Diploma in Art and Design, specializing in Textiles and Fashion at Burton College, Staffordshire. I then continued with my studies at De Montfort University and graduated in July 2011 with a BA (Hons) Textile Design (Printed Textiles) degree.

During the three years of my degree I gained knowledge of so many different techniques through silkscreen and digital textile printing.  I also developed skills in dyeing, heat transfer and drawing.  I love to design for all surfaces including fashion, interiors, greetings and stationery.  I also learned how to accept criticism from tutors within my work.

Since graduating from University I have learnt even more about the textile industry and how best to design particularly since freelancing for Black Cherry Studio.  I love learning and will continue to learn throughout my design career.
I have been influenced by the world around me and have produced work on topics of nature, which was a key focus during my final major project in University.  Furthermore I have continued my interests in man-made objects, more specifically machinery and the workings of machines.  I have used these topics to produce real life and abstract designs, leading into formation of patterns, something that is now a keen interest of mine and I will continue to explore.
